1996 Impala SS Underhood Short at Fuse number 4
Transmission in "limp" mode? Check engine light? MAF malfunction? Underhood fuse number 4 supplies power to numerous circuits. As well as sending 12V to the air pump relay, (and thus the electric water pump), number 4 fuse powers the transmission, the evap control relay, the egr relay, the left and right o2 sensors and the MAF. Sheesh!!! What was GM thinking. One fuse and the whole world goes out.

What? A 410 LT1? This is a 4" stroke, 4.040" bore LT1 which makes 410 cubic inches displacement. Lots of details in the video. Dyno pulls at the end. Enjoy. All comments encouraged. Full dyno session of the DRM LT1-383. This engine started life as a 1995 Corvette LT1-383 stroker built by Doug Rippie Motorsports. The engine is quite similar now as it was then except for being a 4.040" bore and flat top Mahle piston with the 1mm ring package. Same heads and same cam. I hear the motor made 450 hp back in 1995.

It's been a while since I had a customer engine on the dyno. Jim's water brake has been on the fritz and it has been repaired. All is well with the dyno. Nothing big on details here. Just figured some might be interested in the raw footage of today's short pre-dyno test. Zach came over to load a base engine dyno tune for this ERE-383 with AFR heads and nice big camshaft by Lloyd Elliott. We don't have a firm date yet for the dyno day. Stay Tuned.

ERE-383 (LT1) number 127 AFR heads, Lloyd Elliott custom cam. In this video I shortened the valve cover hold-down screws, trimmed the oil dip stick tube to fit with the ARP main cap studs, installed fuel injectors onto the fuel rail and test fit the Hooker super comp headers. This engine will go on the dyno soon. It will have a Holley TerminatorX EFI system set up for the dyno.

TouqHead provides a service where they will install their 24x reluctor on your ATI hub. If you have a big block Chevy sized crankshaft “post” you can buy directly from them or mail your to them. I’m going to use a TorqHead signal kit to feed my Holley HP EFI engine control unit.
